Amanda Atkins, Chair, Kansas Republican Party and Shari Weber, Executive Director, American Majority
June 11, 2009
Amanda Adkins:
Amanda stated that she decided to assume the leadership of the Kansas GOP because she felt it was time for the party to return to the basics. Her past work in politics, her position now as a businesswoman, a wife and mother have prepared her for this leadership role. It is a tough time for Republicans now. It is time to propose conservative solutions in order to win elections in 2010 and to set the framework for years to come. Kansans must think outside the box and innovate. All plans start with a vision and inspiration. It is time to step up and meet the challenges of the 21st Century with energy and resolve for a strong economy, strong families and strong communities.
Think tanks are being organized with volunteers to focus on healthcare, tax freedom and innovation. The first meeting will be held on June 20, 2009 at the Kansas Republican Party Summer Meeting. The meetings will occur over the 2009-2010 election cycle. The purpose of the think tanks will be to educate and leverage key leaders to meet the challenges of the 21st Century with technology. Conservative ideas and principles will be the basis for the vision, ideas, optimism and the smart use of technology to resonate as a big tent for all Republicans.
Amanda introduced CiCi Rojas who recently accepted the appointment to the position of Executive Director of the Kansas Republican Party.
The state party staff will occupy the office in Topeka and will also be present in the new Johnson County Republican Party office located at 127th and Metcalf in Overland Park.
